LOVES RICE CEREAL

So at Prescott's 6 month well care checkup we got the green light to start trying some foods. We are still keeping him on Elecare, which is his special amino based formula. However, we get to start him on rice cereal for a month, then try oatmeal for a month and then vegetables. We have been waiting for this day for a while for several reasons. First and most important, it will help us figure out what he is allergic to. Second, it will hopefully cut back a little on the massive amount of money we spend each month on formula. We have just been waiting until Prescott was feeling better before we tried anything. If he did have a reaction, we didn't want to add anything else to his ear issues. Well last weekend after he got an injection, he was acting a little better but not himself. By this point I have had 2 sobbing breakdowns because I can't do a screaming and crying baby all day and all night anymore. 6 weeks straight of this (basically by myself) put me at my breaking point. So we thought we would change things up and let him try some rice cereal and see if that would help.
Well he absolutely loved it and I couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough. He would make this monkey like grunting sound and kick his legs and move his arms as fast as he could while I got the next bite. Paislee thought it was the funniest thing in the world. It also helped me pull myself together to have him happy for just that few minutes. Prescott also wanted to help feed himself, he would shove the spoon and his hand in his mouth. I have this feeling that he is going to be as fun to feed as my little Paislee was. Oh wait did I say was? Opps, I totally meant IS!
He had to wait a week to try it again though because he got more ear infections and was so sick again. BUT, today was a great day and I am praying maybe just maybe things will start to look up at our house. If that happens then Prescott can eat that yummy rice cereal everyday and then we can check one off the list and move to the next food item. But rice cereal was a big hit and he loves it, what can I say brother loves his food. Prescott is a big boy and that is just one of the many things I love about him.
