Paislee,
You have always thrived and done amazing in school and 3rd grade was no expectation. You had a darling new teacher named Ms. Taylor and she was so much fun. You laughed and talked about how much you loved her and going to school all the time. This always made Dad and me so happy because we knew you loved learning and you enjoyed going to school. There was one downfall to 3rd grade though; this was the year in school where you started the attitude and back talking. It was so hard and extremely frustrating for us, especially for me. We had to be very patient and teach you that you won’t get anywhere in life but in big trouble with the “tude” (like I would call it) that you had.
Paislee this year you had many accomplishments in school. You got 100% on all your spelling tests and you turned in your homework and reading minutes every week for the entire year. Ms. Taylor also picked you to be awarded with the April Leader in Me Award. It was Habit #Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw-balance feels best. To sharpen the saw involves self-improvement, on-going growth and lifelong learning. Sharpening the Saw requires taking care of three main parts of each of us: Body, Mind & Spirit. At the Leader in Me breakfast you got a certificate, Chic-Fil-A mini muffins and a special bead for your lanyard. You participated in reflections for the first time in 3rd grade and went all the way to state. You created a video about your 3 year journey to swim with the dolphins. Your video won your school level, division, council, and region and went onto state. Your video wasn’t picked to go onto nationals but it was displayed at the Leonardo Museum for several months in the Spark exhibit. Dad and I were so proud of you and all your hard work putting the video together! It was so awesome to watch your video at the museum it’s one of those once in a lifetime experiences Sissy and we do believe “The world would be a better place”… if everyone followed their dreams just like you did. You were 1 out of the 3 representatives from your class that was able to participate in the 3rd grade school spelling bee. You had to review 522 words and we are so proud of you for making it as far as you did. I'm not sure who was more nervous during the spelling bee you or me. Paislee you ended up taking 9th place but actually only spelled 1 word wrong because they gave you 3 strikes before you were out. You would spell the word so fast that you didn't even listen to how the word was used in the sentence. Mom had warned you about this very thing several times that morning before the spelling bee so it was a hard lesson learned. It did break my heart knowing how hard you had studied and also knowing you were spelling the word right but just spelling the wrong spelling of the word. Wrong thrown baby girl Mom and you also spent several weeks researching and trying different designs for your 3rd grade egg drop. Dad and you would find ideas online and mom and you would create the idea and then you would test it by dropping it off our 16 foot deck. After testing 4 different designs you finally decided on what you wanted for your egg drop design. Paislee you were so excited about it and couldn't wait to see if your egg would survive the drop off the school roof and your egg did survive the drop off of the school roof! Paislee you got to play the part of the farmer for the 3rd grade Kid's Market. You had so much fun and it was such an amazing learning experience. You participated in the 3rd grade wax museum this year and decided to be Jane Goodall. It about killed us both that you went to school with NO bow that day. But Jane Goodall doesn't wear bows in the wild with the chimpanzees. We couldn't do the messy ponytail that Jane Goodall wears though, that would have just pushed the limits a little too far. You made a darling Jane Goodall and did a fabulous job telling everyone about Jane Goodall's life at the wax museum. You had your entire speech memorized! Paislee since you passed off all of your 0-12 times tables in 3rd grade, you were knighted as a knight of the times table by Principal Bona. Way to go Lady Paislee! Out of the your entire class you were in the top 4 for fastest times table timing so you also received a Cafe Rio gift card from Ms. Taylor. Paislee you completed 14 out of the 16 requirements in 3rd grade to earn the Mountain Lion award. You were 1 out of only 3 from your class awarded the Mountain Lion award at school. This year you missed very few days with your 30 minutes of reading a day. The class reading goal was 70,000 minutes and they got to 70,960 minutes so we celebrated with an ice cream party. Cute Ms. Taylor even used the whipping cream to squirt in the kid’s mouths. You and your class thought it was the coolest thing ever! What a great accomplishment for the class to read 70,960 minutes and you definitely did you part to make it to the reading goal. Paislee you also got wonderful grades and citizenship the entire year in 3rd grade and you even ended the year with a PERFECT report card. That is a huge accomplishment when you can get a perfect report card with everything you do outside of school.
You had so many wonderful accomplishments in 3rd grade. But the thing that made us the proudest and our hearts filled with joy was when Ms. Taylor told us that you had befriended a little girl named Hailey who was in a wheelchair. Ms. Taylor told us that this little girl didn’t have many friends and you went out of your way to be friends with her and include her. Hearing what a wonderful friend you were was better than all your accomplishments for the entire year. You becoming a good friend to someone in need meant that you were listening to some things that Dad and I were teaching you and it was our pay day.
Paislee you are so smart, talented, kind, beautiful, sweet, sassy and a wonderful kid. We are so proud of you and even though it breaks our hearts that our little girl is growing up we love watching how you are becoming such an amazing girl!
