So my mom, sister-in-laws and I all decided to do a family fun week the week before the kids went back to school. Sometimes everyone was there and sometimes it was just my mom, my kids and I. We had so much fun but I was SO tired after family fun week was over. Here's what we did during FFW. We went to Hogle Zoo, always a favorite for everyone.
Paislee and her two cousins had a sleepover
at Grandma Huntsman's house the night before. Paislee's tooth had been kinda loose for awhile and she wouldn't stop playing with it. On the way up to the zoo Grandma, Hallee and Hope all cheered her on as she pulled her front tooth out. So when she got to the zoo she had a big surprise for me. My cute little hillbilly!
Prescott loved all the zoo animals and yelled moo at each and everyone. So now I am 100% certain he thinks every animal really says moo.
Cute little bums looking at the elephants and a gift shop prize from Grandma.
That night the Tooth Fairy came to our house and left Paislee a gold coin, a note and a Sweet Tooth treat certificate.
The next day we went to Tracy Aviary, it was so HOT! But the kids had a blast seeing all the birds.
We paid extra for the kids to do the Sun Conure encounter and it was worth every penny. The kids couldn't stop talking about it the rest of the day. Prescott was priceless and much to our surprise (if you move they fly away) the birds stayed on my arm as he looked, laughed and talked to them.
Feeding the Sun Conures was by far the kids highlight of the day! Check out how dang cute Prescott little face was while the Consure ate the apples out of the cup.
So finally a miracle in the bird world of sounds, Prescott loved the owls and figured out the sound they made. He hoo hoo-ed over and over, which I was totally fine with because at least he wasn't yelling moo lol.
So from the second we walked into Tracy Aviary the girls were collected feathers. I finally told them half way through the day if they stopped getting all the feathers and putting piles on the stroller we would go to the gift shop and buy peacock feathers for them. As I was telling the girls this, a sweet employee over heard our conversation and walked up and asked me if she could go it her back room and get the girls a peacock feather. The girls all squealed yes please! So they put down all the other feathers and waited for their peacock feather. The cute employee didn't disappoint, she brought back peacock feathers for the girls and Prescott totally making their day.
Since it was so hot we let the kids cool off in the Liberty Park fountains afterwards.
The next day my mom came with us to Scheel's. Believe it or not we have been to Scheel's several times but have never rode the ferris wheel. So we went for a ride on the ferris wheel, which Paislee was not to sure about at first. Prescott keep rocking the chair and she keep reading the danger do not rock sign to him. Afterwards we went and got a treat in the bakery.
FFW continued the next day when we headed over to the Thanksgiving Point farmers market and truck show. We got some yummy fruit and veggies and balloon animals at the farmers market. Then Prescott was in heaven looking at all the big diesel trucks at the truck show.
FFW included going to This is the Place one day. We had never been there before but what a perfect time to go for FFW right. The kids really liked it and got to go on a pony ride, see animals and make crafts.
We took the train ride tour and went to make Indian arrowhead necklaces.
They got to use a hammer and pound designs in a piece of leather.
They tried doing some of the chores the pioneer kids used to do.
But the smiles didn't stop as they panned for GOLD! They thought it was the neatest thing ever and got so excited when they found a piece of gold.
On our last day of FFW we took the kids to Classic Skating. Prescott was hilarious because it was faster to push his Radio Flyer than ride it. The kids all tried skating which didn't last long, they all ended up riding on their scooters most of the time.
We bought them pizza, they played on the bounce houses, got 60 tokens each and played in the jungle gym. Even though we were inside they all played so hard that they were sweaty and stinky by the end of the day.
FFW was a huge success and so many fun memories were made for my kids this week. Tiring for sure but definitely worth it!
