It all started the day after Christmas at midnight. I don't know why because usually I love keeping my Christmas up after New Years but this year I was done. I wanted it all down and it just hit me at midnight. With that being said Chad may or may not have been already a little grumpy and mad at me for wanting Christmas down at midnight. So we were taking Christmas decorations for the outside to the garage to put them in the totes. Chad didn't realize I had followed him to the door and was right behind him. He shut (it may or may not have been more like a slam) and I had reached my hand to grab the door. My entire finger went inside the silver hole in the door frame and the door closed completely. Chad didn't realize what had happened and keep walking into the bedroom to go to the bathroom. When I opened the door and released my finger I was crying and yelling in pain. I walked over to the sink to wash it off and when I turned my finger over I could see the bone. I may or may not have passed out at that time which is when Chad walked in. He felt HORRIBLE and he immediately called our cute next door neighbor to come sit at our house so he could take me to the ER. Good thing we have amazing neighbors!
So after 4 hours in the ER, 3 shots, 5 x-rays and 7 stiches we finally came back home.
This was the first time I took the bandages off to wash it so it wouldn't get infected. I don't do well with this kind of stuff and about passed out washing it, I could never be a nurse.
I have to keep the stiches in for 14 days and then go get tape/glue closures for 10 more days. I can't bend my finger at all and it is still completely numb from the stiches up.
Lesson learned, don't EVER slam a door and NEVER grab a door by anything but the door handle! Oh and I think I'll leave Christmas up from now on until New Years.
