My long time friend who I grew up with now lives in England with her sweet husband. She has been going through an extremely rough trial for several years now. I feel so blessed to be a mommy and I can't even imagine how I would feel if I never had the chance to experience being a mom. Tonight I was reading a post she wrote and it made me stop and think. I stopped to think about my little family and the trials that we never thought we would and could ever get through. It made me think of the saying, "There is no testimony without the test." I stopped and thought for a moment tonight about her post and about God's "tender mercies."
"The Tender Mercies of the Lord."
Elder David A. Bednar
“We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord's tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance”
So today my cute friend went for a walk to find God's "tender mercies." The pictures she took were amazing, but there was one picture that really stood out to me. I hope I can be like this beautiful yellow flower, and no matter what is going on around me I can find the strength to carry on and stay strong. On days when I think life is more than I can bear, I need to remember to take the time to look around at the sweet and innocent reminders that God as left for me, his "tender mercies!"
