After Paislee's big day at church we came home to find Cupid had visited our house. He had left Paislee her last love note, a new shirt, a singing bear and a Valentine's doll in her mailbox. Daddy and Mommy also got her a card, a shirt, a sweater and her ABSOlUTE favorite gift of the day, a lipgloss bag and Valentine's hair stuff. After she opened the presents from us, she went running for the stairs and said, "I have something for you guys." Chad and I looked at each other wondering if the other had helped her make something. But neither one of us did, so what did she have. She walked down the stairs with a HUGE smile on her face and handed Chad her groundhog she made at school a couple of days ago and then she handed me her pack of gum (she was grounded from which is a whole other post). It was so cute because she had not put that groundhog down since she made it and she LOVES and is obsessed with gum. So it was so dang sweet to see that she wanted to give us something she loved.
As for me I had the best Valentine's I have ever had this year. Chad bought Paislee and I some pretty flowers which is always nice. But the steal this year was the thoughtfulness that went into my Valentine's from my hubby. He made a huge heart card out of poster board and typed the words so it looked so nice. Then as I opened the card I saw he had completed our 2009 taxes, to most people this is no big deal or might be a lame gift. But because of my sweet husbands procrastination with some things it was the greatest gift he could have given me. Then to top it off he wrote me a love letter, a 2 page love letter that had me crying like a baby. Two things; I don't cry over very many things so that is how good the letter was and second Chad has NEVER wrote me a love letter in the 7 years I have known him. It was the best Valentine's ever!!!
So as for my hubby, I LOVE to do special things for the people I love on pretty much any and every holiday. So this year Paislee and I left Daddy a jar and a note telling him that for the 12 days before Valentine's he would find candy hearts around the house (Thanks Suzi). He could choose to eat them or save them in the jar. So for 12 days Paislee got super excited to hide her Daddy's hearts and then tell him where they were. On Valentine's Day I then gave Chad another note telling him that he would be given a Valentine's Day menu and he could order whatever he wanted off the menu as long as he had enough hearts to cover the item. If he would have saved every heart, he would have had 300 (25 a day) and he could have gotten everything off the Valentine's menu. But this is Chad and if you know anything about Chad then you know already he didn't have even close to 300 hearts. He had 136, so he had to decide what things he wanted to get from the menu. He ended up with a card from Paislee, a card from me, a kiss, a wrapped gift, a thoughtful gift and a homemade treat!
After our gift exchange we took Paislee down to exchange Valentine's with her best friend Bauer. They are so dang cute and by the time she left she had a basket fulled with Valentine's goodies from Brian, Katie & Bauer. (THANKS GUYS!)
We then went to Olive Garden to meet my family for a family Valentine's dinner. I don't know about the rest of you but I sure love and adore my family. So it was awesome to spend our Valentine's dinner with all the ones we love. (We missed you Kelly & Kyle) Grandpa & Grandma Huntsman brought all the kids a cute Valentine's card and stuffed animal.
After dinner we came home and spent the rest of the night together as a family watching old family videos of Paislee and laughing about how much she has grown up. As we were watching the shows Paislee got really quiet in her office (she likes to work like her daddy) behind the couch. She had fallen asleep with all her Valentine's presents in her office, so cute. I love Valentine's Day and I love having a day to celebrate all the people I have in my life that I love so much!
This was the thoughtful gift I gave Chad from the Valentine's menu:
P.S. Paislee got some other Valentine's from special people who love her tons. Grandpa & Grandma Bawden were in California so we didn't get to see them but they gave Paislee a little Cabbage Patch doll and a box of Spongebob chocolates. I hate Spongebob and Paislee isn't allowed to watch it, so she laughed and laughed when she got Spongebob chocolates. Paislee also got a Valentine's in the mail from Grandma Lorna, she sent her a card and some coupons for free food at McDonald's. This girl is really LOVED and spoiled, no not spoiled just well taken care of lol!!!
