I say this every year, but I can't believe my baby girl is 6 years old. I am a mom with this love/hate for birthdays. I LOVE to plan and do birthday parties for my kids but I HATE the fact that they are a year older. Which might seem strange to some people, but having kids is a struggle for so many reasons for Chad and I, so maybe that is part of the reason. Paislee and Prescott are our lives, so back to Paislee's birthday celebration.
Paislee woke up to her birthday decorations, birthday flowers, birthday presents and the birthday breakfast of her choice. After opening presents she got ready for school and went to the car for another birthday surprise. She got a new taller booster chair. Since our seat belts in our car are so high the seat belt was always around her neck. So we had to keep her in a booster seat with a back to keep the seat belt off her neck. Well, since she has grown a little we were able to get a booster without a back that was high enough the seat belt doesn't choke her. She was so surprised and very excited!Every year I get a picture of Paislee in my wedding dress taken so we can see how much she has grown. I then put all of her favorites for that year over the top of the picture.Paislee always knows what she wants for her birthday party and talks about her party the entire year and this year was no exception. She had been informing me for months that she wanted an American Girl fashion show party. Okay then Paislee girl, and I started to plan her party. When we went to the American Girl store in Los Angeles we were able to get the manager to give us these tiny bags for the party favors (a special dress for their American doll). We tried to pay for them but since they don't sell them they were really weird about it, finally after we explained what we were using them for they gave us the cute bags for the party. So out went the invitations for her American Girl party fashion show. The girls and their American dolls where invited to come celebrate Paislee's 6th birthday. Paislee wore her new outfit she got when we took her shopping at the American Girl store in Los Angeles. When the girls and their American's got to the party they went right in to change for the fashion show. They got to choose from dresses, dance costumes, Halloween costumes and tons of props to get all dolled up for the fashion show. And we didn't leave the American's out, they also got to dress up for the fashion show. They each got a brand new dress that Paislee's grandma made for them. The dresses took my sweet mom hours to make but she is the best grandma ever and ended up making 29 American girl dresses. There were four different dresses and all the girls were so excited, most of them couldn't even believe they actually got to take the dresses home with them. After the fashion show the girls had cookies, icecream and juice. We had small cups and cookies for their American's that looked just like the girls big ones. After that Paislee's opened her presents. She got lots of fun new things for her American, Paislee was in heaven. So my mom is really the best mom ever. She made all those darling dresses for the girls to take home as their party favor. Then she also helped me make 6 dozen of her famous sugar cookies. Not just any cookie, American Girl star sugar cookies. Big ones for the girls and small ones for their American's. I already know my mom is amazing and we are so lucky to have a grandma like her! After the cookies we had a balloon guy come that made the girls a special balloon of their choice with a tiny matching one for their American. Paislee got big butterfly wings for her and her American.
I will say that this party was one of my favorites to plan. We did exactly what Paislee wanted to do and it turned out to be an awesome birthday party!Just like every year, Paislee is reminded when she looks at all her presents, just how many people really love and care about her. She is one lucky little 6 year old, that has so many family and friends that love her.
