So yesterday Paislee and I had the car packed with the wagon and cooler because after my doctors appointment we were heading to the zoo with my family. At my appointment I asked my doctor about some really bad pains I had been having for the past two weeks. They decided to check me just to make sure everything was okay given my preterm labor history. I am not sure who was more surprised the NP or me when she checked me and found out I was dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced. So they immediately gave me a steroid injection and sent me over for some tests. The first test was to check the fluid levels to make sure I hadn't lost any fluids or wasn't slowly leaking. I passed the first test which was great news because that meant my water hadn't broke. The next test was to check to see if I was contracting. Well much to my surprise the pains I had been having where actually contractions. I guess a contraction at 32 weeks feels different than a contraction at 36 or 38 weeks. So after that test they found out my contractions were only 4 minutes apart. At this point I was shocked and starting to get upset and worried but I knew I had to keep it together because I had Paislee with me. My mom rushed right up to the hospital to get Paislee because the team of doctors decided they wanted to admit me. After being monitored they found out my contractions were getting worse and I started dilating even more. So now I am dilated to a 3 and having hard contractions every 3 to 4 minutes. They gave me an IV and the contractions started slowing down a little bit. After nine hours my cervix still wasn't doing anything which is a really good sign. They could feel the baby's head but it was still floating meaning there was fluid between the baby's head and my cervix. They wanted to keep me over night but with lots of begging and promises they sent me home and now I am on strict bed rest. I got another steroid injection this morning and the contractions have slowed down for the most part. The doctor's and our first goal is for this baby to get to 34 weeks. So as much as it sucks to get put on strict bed rest during the summer, having to leave my baby at the hospital would be ten times worse. I am 32 weeks and 4 days (the 4 days is huge with preterm labor) today and I know we can at least make it to 34 weeks. Wish us luck!!!

We'll be praying for you guys and hoping for the best for you and your sweet baby. :)
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if you need anything. This baby needs all the rest you can get for the next two weeks. I love ya girl!
Ill cross my fingers you make it to 34 weeks! I am sorry you are having to go through this. Lots and X's & O's from the Burkes!
i'm thinking of you guys!!! hang in there!
Crazy scary Amanda. Follow your doctor's advice exactly. You'll make it. Do you need some good books? Can I bring you anything? Natalie was born at 34 1/2 and I did have to leave her at the hospital. You're right...that sucks...totally and completely.
Even though she was early, she was very strong and huge 6.4 lbs...but still required a weeks stay in the NICU. So keep that baby in you as long as you can! Holler if you need anything. I'm happy to help any way I can.
